The Story Behind LunoDB
LunoDB emerged from my frustration with existing database tools that were either overly complex for simple tasks or too limited for advanced work. I built LunoDB to bridge that gap - creating an intuitive, powerful database client that developers actually enjoy using.
As a full-stack developer working on e-commerce platforms and web applications, I spent countless hours switching between different database tools, each with their own quirks and limitations. I knew there had to be a better way.
So I set out to build the database tool I wished existed - one that combines power with simplicity, leveraging modern technologies like Electron and React to create a fast, cross-platform desktop experience.

Fed up with clunky database tools, I started building LunoDB from scratch. The goal: create a database client that's powerful yet intuitive.
v1.0 Launch
Just 2 weeks after starting, LunoDB v1.0 launched with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQLite support. SSH tunneling, query history, and cross-platform from day one.
Database Expansion
Added MariaDB, MongoDB, SQL Server, and Redis support in v1.4.0. LunoDB became a truly universal database client in just 12 days.
AI Revolution
Launched v1.7.0 with groundbreaking AI features: write SQL in plain English, AI-powered filtering, and a chat assistant. Choose from cloud providers or keep everything private with Ollama — your data never leaves your machine.
Data Visualization
Released v1.10.0 bringing powerful data visualization to LunoDB. Let AI create graphs for you automatically, or build custom charts from your own SQL queries. Five chart types, custom colors, and graphs saved with your backups.
